چکیده

The pulse-coupled neural network (PCNN) has been widely used in image processing. The outputs of PCNN represent unique features of original stimulus and are invariant to translation, rotation, scaling and distortion, which is particularly suitable for feature extraction. In this paper, PCNN and intersecting cortical model (ICM), which is a simplified version of PCNN model, are applied to extract geometrical changes of rotation and scale invariant texture features, then an one-class support vector machine based classification method is employed to train and predict the features. The experimental results show that the pulse features outperform of the classic Gabor features in aspects of both feature extraction time and retrieval accuracy, and the proposed one-class support vector machine based retrieval system is more accurate and robust to geometrical changes than the traditional Euclidean distance based system. 2010 Elsevier B.V. Application of Artificial Neural Networks and Support Vector Machines for carbonate pores size estimation from 3D seismic data

This paper proposes a method for the prediction of pore size values in hydrocarbon reservoirs using 3D seismic data. To this end, an actual carbonate oil field in the south-western part ofIranwas selected. Taking real geological conditions into account, different models of reservoir were constructed for a range of viable pore size values.  Seismic surveying was performed next on these models. F...

Geometry-Invariant Texture Retrieval Using a Dual-Output Pulse-Coupled Neural Network

This letter proposes a novel dual-output pulse coupled neural network model (DPCNN). The new model is applied to obtain a more stable texture description in the face of the geometric transformation. Time series, which are computed from output binary images of DPCNN, are employed as translation-, rotation-, scale-, and distortion-invariant texture features. In the experiments, DPCNN has been wel...

بازیابی مبتنی بر شکل اجسام با توصیفگرهای بدست آمده از فرآیند رشد کانتوری

In this paper, a novel shape descriptor for shape-based object retrieval is proposed. A growing process is introduced in which a contour is reconstructed from the bounding circle of the shape. In this growing process, circle points move toward the shape in normal direction until they  get to the shape contour. Three different shape descriptors are extracted from this process: the first descript...

Probabilistic Contaminant Source Identification in Water Distribution Infrastructure Systems

Large water distribution systems can be highly vulnerable to penetration of contaminant factors caused by different means including deliberate contamination injections. As contaminants quickly spread into a water distribution network, rapid characterization of the pollution source has a high measure of importance for early warning assessment and disaster management. In this paper, a methodology...
